Sony Rolly, a new concept in music players

Sony Rolly is truly so much more than the "little robotic music player that could" and for those who still don't know what Rolly really is, this movie should explain pretty much everything. Yet, the small football-shaped moving robotic and white MP3 player will get a nifty upgrade, ready to ship on April 19: new color caps for the speakers, letting you enjoy this rather spectacular toy even more.

The new Rolly comes in high-gloss black while the soon-available speaker caps/wings come in red, blue and silver, letting you further customize your Sony Rolly experience.

There is no word on whether the lighting color changed or not in this new version but in any case you'll still have a lot of fun with the color scheme. The new Sony Rolly loudspeaker caps will be available for a neat price around 15 bucks, a minor upgrade cost compared with the Rolly itself, setting you back some $400.

This football-shape music player comes with a 1GB memory and can handle ATRAC3, ATRAC3plus, MP3 and AAC files, but there is no expansion slot for additional memory.

The standard Bluetooth connectivity is available, as well as an USB socket; you can use the bundled software to edit the motion specs for the Sony Rolly so it would better suit your preferences: you can have this unusual music player "dancing" to your fav tunes and even move by itself according to your hits' BPM.

Of course, the new caps can be mounted on the initial white Rolly version as there haven't been made any modifications to the physical specs as far as the black version was concerned. The Sony Rolly can blast 2 x 1.2W RMS from its dual 20mm drivers with 180-degree reverse firing positioning while recharging the built-in battery can be made via USB or AC adapter and provides with up to 5 hours of continuous fun.
