60-year-old Katherine Angier, the mother of handsome criminal Jeremy Meeks whose mugshot went viral just a few days ago, has recently agreed to sit for an interview with Daily Mail, and ended up delivering one really wacky theory.

In a nutshell, it turns out Katherine Angier is convinced her 30-year-old son only has one fault: the fact that he is stunningly, exquisitely, and exceptionally good looking. By some people's standards, of course.

This theory might sound odd and completely out of touch with reality to some folks, but it makes perfect sense to the handsome criminal's mother. Luckily, Katherine Angier is not one not to elaborate on her theories.

Long story short, here is her rationale: due to his rise to fame on the wings of social networking site Facebook and the media, Jeremy Meeks is now a tad too popular for his own good. Simply put, fellow inmates and guards are giving him grief.

Hence, the 30-year-old handsome criminal often cries himself to sleep and even fears for his life. More so since he shares a prison with members of a gang he used to be part of, 60-year-old Katherine Angier goes on to detail.

Since Jeremy Meeks' mugshot would not have become as popular as it did if he were a wee more a frog and a tad less a prince, there is only one conclusion to be drawn: his good looks are what got him on shaky grounds in prison by scoring him loads of fans on social media.

“He is going through a terrible ordeal from the guards and some of the gang members. We just want his life to be normal. Who knows what this is going to do to his life. This could mess it all up,” the woman has told the press.

“He got away from the gangs when he met his wife and they got married six years ago. He moved. He started a family. This is a nightmare for him. He doesn’t want any of this. He is having a hard time in jail. He told me today was the first time he woke without crying,” she adds.

What's interesting is that the same good looks Katherine Angier claims got her son in trouble in prison could help him turn his life around, provided that he is released. Thus, the criminal's mother says that her son has been contacted by a modeling agency and might one day earn $30,000 (€22,050) a month.

Jeremy Meeks' mugshot, available above, was posted on the official Facebook page for the Stockton Police Department in California, US, on June 19, and has since scored nearly 100,000 likes. The man is accused of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, carrying a gun in public, and gang activities.

“It's been a long term investigation over many weeks and Mr. Meek's gang was identified as the most violent and active gang in the area,” an officer in charge of overseeing this case reportedly has told the press in an interview.

The 30-year-old man's mother disagrees and says that, although it is true that Jeremy Meeks was once a member of the Northside Gangster Crips gang, it is no longer the case. On the contrary, her son is a loving father and husband, and only carries a gun for his own protection.

“It’s just not true. He lives in a good neighborhood. Runs a kids' baseball team. He was in a gang but not anymore. He was not in the Northside Crips like the police say. He was in the Northern Crips but he left the area to start again,” the woman explains.

“The police just see the tattoos and think gangster. This idea that he is an active and violent gang leader is not a picture I recognize. He was not on gang related activities,” she says. “All he is guilty of is having a gun in his trunk. In this area that is not unusual,” 60-year-old Katherine Angier goes on to argue.
