Scary Movie 4, the first major release under the new Weinstein Co. banner (led by the former Miramax Bob and Harvey Weinstein bros) had a very good opening week-end and landed on top of the B.O chart, pushing the formidable Ice Age 2 to the second spot on the list.

The raunchy and bad-tasted mock-up-every-big-movie-of-last-year comedy stars Carmen Electra and Leslie Nielsen and has grossed $41 million over the holiday weekend.

Scary Movie 4 managed to establish a new Easter record, cashing in more than the previous Easter Holiday record Panic Room, which opened in 2002 to the tune of $30.1 million.

The movie spoofs many movies, disregarding the genre: from Clint Eastwood's Million Dollar Baby to M. Night Shyamlan's The Village and from the Saw franchise to real Tom Cruise TV moments.

Ice Age 2 still does well in theaters and has sold tickets worth $ 20 million during the week-end. The third contestant is Sony Pictures' Rob Schneider movie, The Benchwarmers, who seems to be grounded of the top stop as has already been screened for two weeks and didn't manage to reach top spot yet.

Disney's brand new cartoon, The Wild seems so much like a warm-hearted cover version of DreamWorks' Madagascar. Anyway stating up on the 4th spot might not be good enough for Disney as they try to fit in the present world of animation.

Former number ones Inside Man and V for Vendetta are still around, on the 6th and 10th position, grossing a total of $75.3 million (Spike Lee's heist movie) and $65.9 million (Wachowski bros' story of vendetta).
