L3O Interactive and Iceberg Interactive have just released a new content update for their upcoming space 4x title Horizon, currently in its late beta on Steam's Early Access.

Horizon is a turn-based strategy galactic conquest game for the PC, where players explore the vast reaches of space, discover hidden alien artifacts and meet ten other species, each with its own unique history, culture and secret agenda.

Players can develop new colonies into trade, industry and science centers and deploy military bases, outpost and shipyards to push their empires beyond their limits and engage in ship-to-ship tactical combat.

The Dutch developers have added new functions and content to the beta, most notably the ability to fully customize the race templates with unique special abilities, or select one of the seven additional races introduced, with 84 new ship models and other race-specific assets and tech.

Players will be able to design their Starbases before building them, much like is the case of ships. Terraforming mechanics have been introduced, in order to make planets more hospitable to the player's race.

New displays have been added for Explored Planets, Game Options, Racial Stats and Bonuses and an updated help screen has been introduced, featuring tooltips in order to accommodate new players.

“We appreciate all feedback on the new update and encourage all players to give their opinion and advice on the official forum. Over the next weeks we will also be busy with language integrations, achievements and random events, working hard towards Horizon's final launch next year,“ L3O CEO Raffi Parsekhian said.

The update also brings Horizon's fans a new HD Wallpaper. The full list of fixes can be found in the official patch notes.

More information about the game can be found on its official forums.

Players interested in gaining early access before the game's provisional Q1 2014 release date can visit Horizon's Early Access Steam page, where the game is featured at a 25% discount, part of Steam's Holiday Sale.
