With fame comes more than only a bigger paycheck and, unfortunately, Alana Thompson, aka Honey Boo Boo Child, star of TLC’s latest hit series, “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” is learning this lesson the hard way, after receiving death threats.

The National Enquirer writes that Honey Boo Boo is the potential victim of a kidnapping scheme, with sources saying for the tab that threatening calls have been placed at her school in McIntyre, Ga., in this sense.

Consequently, June Shannon, Alana’s mother and also a star on the same reality series, has hired a full-time bodyguard to watch over her daughter.

“June is terrified. With the threats on Alana’s safety increasing, security is being provided for her around the clock,” an insider says for the tab.

When not with her bodyguard, Alana is being left in the care of her teachers, who must ensure that they report anything suspicious the moment they notice it.

“There was a meeting with all the teachers at Alana’s school. They have been instructed to keep an eye on Alana, and they know to report anything suspicious immediately,” the same insider goes on to say.

Apparently, the threats made by an unnamed caller are even more worrying as they come on the heels of a possible break-in into the family home.

“Nothing was stolen that they know of, but the police take every threat very seriously. They warned the family that whoever broke into the home may have been casing the place for a future kidnap attempt by someone convinced that TLC would pay a huge ransom for their newest little star,” the same source says.

Alana and her mom June shot to fame on TLC on “Toddlers & Tiaras,” where they shared with the world their secret for always staying on top of their game, the so-called “Go Go Juice.”

Later, as it became clear that they were a hit with audiences – and generating controversy as well, which also translates into big bucks in the world of showbiz – they got their own show, the aforementioned “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.”

Ever since its premiere in early August, the new series has been rising steadily in the ratings.
