Video game publisher Ubisoft has offered some more details on the Homestead feature in Assassin’s Creed III, which is designed to allow Connor, the main character, to have a safe place that he can upgrade and conduct trade in.

Alex Hutchinson, who is the leading producer working on Assassin’s Creed III, has told The Official Xbox Magazine that, “My favourite thing about the Homestead is that in a city, you’re anonymous, you blend into the crowds. But at home, everyone knows your name. They don’t know you’re an assassin, obviously, but they live their lives, going to the tavern – assuming you’ve attracted the Innkeeper.”

He added, “It becomes a beautiful video game train set. But we’re aware that we’re a trading game, and that’s close to German board games.”

Connor is able to pursue certain quests in order to convince more people to move to the Homestead and use their unique skills to enhance the character’s abilities.

Once a certain trader is unlocked, Connor can also do side missions for him in order to unveil new crafting recipes.

Hutchinson also revealed that as many as 35 unique people can take up residence in the Homestead and that the team has been careful to include as many as 8 activities for each of them in order to create a feeling of organic activity in the area.

Assassin’s Creed III is set to close down the current narrative arc of the Ubisoft series.

Assassin’s Creed III will be launched on October 30 in North America and one day later in Europe, but only on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.

Those who play on the Wii U from Nintendo will get it when the home console launches on their home market, while PC players will get access to the new installment in the series in late November.
