Homefront, the first-person shooter from publisher THQ and developer Kaos Studios, has managed to take the first position in the United Kingdom video game chart in its first week on sale, performing better than a number of other big releases.

Homefront has been widely debated last week, with analysts saying that the drop in price seen by THQ shares is linked to the mediocre review scores the game has been receiving, while the publisher countered that it has managed to sell more than 375,000 units on launch day.

Second spot in the chart is taken over by Dragon Age 2, the action and role-playing mix from BioWare and Electronic Arts, which had managed to be the best-selling game in the United Kingdom during the previous week.

The domino like slide down the chart continues with Pokemon White Version, from Game Freak and Nintendo, which goes from second to third, but another new launch managed a good performance just under it with Total War: Shogun 2, the strategy game from The Creative Assembly and SEGA, performing well during its launch week.

The Black version of Pokemon has managed to take fifth place in the United Kingdom while Fight Night Champion, the boxing game from EA Sports, has seen one of the biggest declines of the week going from third place to sixth.

Seventh place is occupied by the seemingly eternal Just Dance 2 casual music game from Ubisoft followed by another long-term presence, FIFA 11 from EA Sports.

Killzone 3 seems on its way out of the chart, with the PlayStation 3 exclusive going from seventh to ninth in the United Kingdom chart.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood from Ubisoft closes down the top ten, with video games like Bulletstorm and, for the first time, Call of Duty: Black Ops, out of the top ten.
