Actress Holly Hunter is pregnant for the first time at age 47 and expected twins. Hunter is in a relationship with British actor Gordon MacDonald, who co-starred in a West End production of By the Bog of Cats with her.
Two days ago, it was confirmed the couple are expecting twins, due in the northern winter of 2005/2006. They will be the first children for both Hunter and MacDonald.
Hunter's first starring role in movies was in 1987, when she appeared in "Raising Arizona". That same year she starred in "Broadcast News", and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress.
In 1993, she won the Oscar for The Piano, performing as a mute musician, Ada. The same year she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for "The Firm".
A year later, she was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress BAFTA award for her role in "The Firm", starring Tom Cruise and Gene Hackman.
Hunter was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2004 for Catherine Hardwicke's Thirteen (movie).
Hunter has also appeared in several television films, and has earned two Emmy 's.
