Are you going to silently storm Camp Omega in Ground Zeroes, or try to survive a horde of zombies in State of Decay

The Holiday Season is upon us and between occasional shopping sprees for Christmas gamers prepare for one of the most important period of the year. After hoarding hundreds of new games throughout the year, now is the best moment to watch the retrospective of what deals you’ve been able to score and try (I know it’s hard) to justify some of the acquisitions.

My Steam library is bursting with games that I never knew I owned until today. Some aren’t even exactly to my taste, but these situations can occur pretty often when you have an unbounded love for games.

Most of all, now is the time to plan ahead and prepare for the long gaming sessions that, as a hardcore gamer, you’re going to have in the next two weeks.

If you, like me, have a huge library of games on Steam, GOG or any other games distribution service, then you know you will have a hard time choosing the game to play during the Holiday Season.

To make things worse (rather in a good way), it’s that time of the year when Valve is storming our wallets with the usual Steam Winter Sale.

So, any plans you might have set in motion prior to Steam sale will basically be ruined by the avalanche of new deals Valve is throwing at us.

Still, like many other gamers, I have a short list of games that I’ve been dying to play, but did not have the time for whatever reasons.

The short list usually contains games that need more attention and time, they may be cult games that you’re a fan of, or they are simply games that require longer gameplay sessions to fully reward the player.

All these sales ruin any previous plans you might have had, but that's a good thing

I had big plans before Steam Holiday Sale kicked off last night, but now I’m left wondering what game I should replace from my shortlist to fit Dark Souls 2 in, which has gotten a good discount. Defense Grid 2 could be another option, so you see what I’m get it at.

My shortlist doesn’t contain too many titles so I don’t have to remove any in case new opportunities arise. First of all, I’m going to immerse myself into the world of Elite: Dangerous, maybe becoming a bounty hunter or the ultimate galaxy trader.

I’m aware that I’ll be needing hundreds of hours just to scratch surface of the content burrowed deep into the game, but I am 100% sure that I’ll absolutely enjoy every moment.

Then there’s Lords of the Fallen that I only played for a few hours due to lack of time. As a Dark Souls fan and a not-too-good Dark Souls player, I found Lords of the Fallen more accessible and better looking than From Software’s masterpiece.

I’m determined to take another look at Deck 13’s work and hopefully not run into any bugs that would prevent me from enjoying the game.

Next on my shortlist of games I plan to play during the Holiday Season is a big one. Maybe it’s not a big name, but it surely is a huge game. I regret not being able to pour in more hours into Larian’s Divinity: Original Sin, but I simply did not have the time.

I hope to fix this in the next couple of weeks if nothing bad happens, like my rig exploding or me having a heart attack (you’re never too young for that, right?).

The last one on my list of must-play games is InXile’s Wasteland 2, which is another epic game that requires a few dozen hours of gameplay time. I’ve already started the game so I am already aware that I’m going to enjoy this greatly.

Things aren't easy for PC gamers but can become a nightmare if you own a console as well

Now that is my shortlist and these are the games I’m going to play on regular basis, but I’ll surely continue my short Hearthstone gameplay sessions and World of Warcraft daily dungeons.

My only hope is that I’ll be able to fire in some Icewind Dale or Baldur’s Gate in between. Oops, I forgot that I own a console as well. Ni no Kuni, here I come!

Seriously now, there are so many games and so little time to play. I thought it should be fun if we shared our shortlist of games for this Holiday Season and wonder together how in the world we will be able to actually play them all with so many gaming deals going live during this time of the year.
