Every time there's a reason to celebrate, Google modifies its logo according to the reason. This time, the company changed even more, adding attracting decorations that replaced the borderline placed between the search engine results and the ads shown for specific keywords.
Because it's Christmas and holiday time, Google added some nice Christmas trees near the ads that were reported by multiples users after searching for keywords like "Christmas", "Hanukkah" or "Kwanzaa".
"For the second year in a row, Google
has added a vertical row of tiny images next to its AdWords ads on Google search, in order to commemorate the holidays. Run a search on Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa, and you'll get a little treat on the right (Christmas trees for Christmas, white candles for Hanukkah, and green, black and red candles for Kwanzaa). Google did this last year, as well, although included Christmas lights then, but not this time around," Nathan Weinberg said on his official blog.
As Philipp Lenssen remarked, this is quite interesting because recently, Google's employees posted a message on the AdSense official blog to inform users that they can get their account locked if they decide to place images that could influence the user, near the ads.
Beside this change of the appearance of the Google search engine's result page, the company also changed its logo, placing a doodle meant to celebrate the Christmas.
"Apparently, this logo is part of Google Doodle 12, an occasion where Google does a series of Doodle logos, all on a common theme, sometimes telling a story. Keep reading for updates on the next Doodles in the series," Nathan added.
Many users said that the holiday decorations added by Google didn't show up after they entered these keywords but you should know that they were available only for a limited period of time, Ionut Alex being one of the persons that captured a screenshot of the interface.
