Hitman Absolution, the recently confirmed new game in the extremely popular stealth franchise from IO Interactive and Square Enix, has received some new details, concerning its tone and atmosphere, as well as information about how it will tie in with the new Hitman movie also expected next year.

After quite a lot of rumors and speculation, IO Interactive confirmed that it is currently developing a brand new Hitman game, in the form of Absolution, which will be published by Square Enix and released next year.

Now, after hearing about the plot and seeing the first teaser video for Hitman Absolution, the Hollywood Reporter has published a new article on the game, complete with more information about it and its relationship with the new Hitman movie, the second adaptation of the game series.

In regards to the game, its director, Tore Blystad said that, "We've designed a more stylised, more serious, and darker game this time around in both the story line and the visuals."

Blystad hopes that the new movie will adapt this new strategy and try to draw more inspiration from the game.

"The hope is that the movie will be going in a similar direction, and then when they both come out they will speak the same language. They won't follow the old Hitman games, but rather go with this newer direction."

The first Hitman movie appeared in 2007 but was criticized for not using the rich content of the game series.

The new game will use quite a lot of Hollywood actors, according to Blystad, including Keith Carradine from the upcoming Cowboys & Aliens movie, who plays the main villain, as well as Marsha Thomason, from the USA network's White Collar TV series, who takes on the role of Agent 47's handler, Diana Burnwood.

"There are more central characters in this game than we've ever dealt with before and they all have names and an important role in the story, so working with Hollywood talent was crucial to us. It's important within the framework of the game for players to be able to connect with these characters."

Hitman Absolution is set to appear next year, but IO Interactive and Square Enix are going to showcase it at next month's E3 conference.
