IO Interactive, the developer behind the upcoming Hitman: Absolution, has talked about the impact its work on previous games has had on the stealth title, saying that it incorporates a lot of lessons learned during the creation of the Kane & Lynch experiences.

The Hitman series has a fiercely loyal fanbase but, in recent years, not a lot has been heard about the stealth franchise, as it seemed that everybody’s favorite bald assassin, Agent 47, went into retirement.

Last year, however, IO Interactive finally presented Hitman: Absolution, the next game in the series.

Now, after hearing quite a few details about its story and seeing plenty of screenshots and videos, the studio has talked about the influences seen in the new title.

According to IO’s Gameplay Director, Christian Elverdam, there are traces from the Kane & Lynch games and even from Mini Ninjas in Hitman: Absolution.

“I think from all the games we've been making, since the last Hitman, we learned a lot about what to do with Kane & Lynch, specifically: 'How do you build set-pieces and shooting experiences.' We learnt from our mistakes as well. We have been learning from everything. I think that's always why it's a comfortable place to be with 47, because we can make him well rounded and I really like that,” he told PSM3 magazine, via CVG.

Elverdam also said that Agent 47’s famous code bar on the back of his head will play a big role in the story of Absolution and that the footage we already saw, in which the code is scratched off, will have a meaningful impact on players.

“I think you will have to speculate about that - that's a big part of this game. A big part is a moral personal journey for 47. He goes on a hunt for the truth about a lot of stuff, and that's part of it,” he said.

Hitman: Absolution is out later this year for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
