Hitachi GST to Acquire Fabrik and Expand External Storage Portfolio

Hitachi Global Storage Technologies has recently announced that it has agreed to acquire Fabrik Inc, a supplier of personal and professional storage solutions. With the acquisition, Hitachi has basically consolidated its position in the market for external storage solutions, as it now owns leading storage brands such as G-Technology and SimpleTech, formerly owned by the privately-held Fabrik, Inc.

“The Fabrik acquisition becomes the cornerstone for the next phase of our business transformation. It strategically expands our market presence, strengthens our product portfolio, and increases our customer base,” said Steve Milligan, president of Hitachi GST. “Fabrik is a key component of our growth and profit strategy going forward and will enable us to deliver a differentiated set of products across a broad range of end-user market segments.”

Hitachi is one of the leading companies in the personal storage market capable of providing its users with a wide range of 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch hard drive products. With the recent announcement Hitachi GST has strengthened its position in the market by taking advantage of the technologies and products developed by Fabrik. Fabrik products will now take advantage of Hitachi's distribution channels and global reach, enabling more users to access the high-quality storage products.
