He who believed that Martina Hingis doesn't stand a chance in winning her first Grand Slam tournament at Roland Garros has every chance to be proven wrong. The Swiss player is now showing a great form, especially if we are to judge her after the first two rounds. After a pretty easy win in the opening round, Hingis practically destroyed Czech's Zuzana Ondraskova. The score: 6-1, 6-3.

The excellent form that Hingis is passing through may be confirmed by the only 49 minutes that she spent on the courtside. After the rain earlier today, she stepped into that field convinced that she has to end it quite quickly. And, after taking the first game "to love", she didn't give her opponent a chance to come back into the game. After leading 4-0, she ended the first set 6-1.

The second part of the game saw the same determination from Hingis, who seemed to end it in style, after a 4-0 lead. Her slowing down was soon taken advantage by the Czech player, who made it 4-3. Two easy games followed for Hingis, who wrapped it up, improving her Roland Garros record. This way, she launched a serious warning to everybody, that she's her to win.

Her main contender for a final victory in France is Belgium's Kim Clijsters. Although she didn't have such a great tournament in Italy two weeks earlier. Clijsters is now determined to take the lead in the WTA standings. And only a victory here would make that possible. So, she spent less than an hour on the tennis court, beating Conchita Martinez Granado 6-0, 6-3. Although she managed the counter-performance of making 27 unforced errors, she didn't have a rough time at all in reaching the third round.

Here are some other results from the women scoreboard at Roland Garros:

A. Medina Garrigues - K. Kanepi 6-3, 4-6, 6-0
P. Schnyder - J. Vakulenko 2-6, 7-5, 6-0
I. Lisjak - J. Zheng 6-4, 6-4
S. Kuznetsova - N. Li 6-3, 7-6
