A month ago, Hillary Clinton asked the public for a song that she could use on her presidential campaign. Among her favorites were U2's "Beautiful Day", Smash Mouth's "I'm A Believer" and The Temptations' "Get Ready". After voting ended, Celine Dion's "You and I" (suggested by a member of the public) was declared the winner. The song was previously used as a theme tune for Air Canada. It features the lines "You and I, we're meant to fly / Higher than the clouds we'll sail across the sky".
The New York senator chose an amusing manner to announce the winning song. Both Hillary and Bill Clinton appear on a short movie which is a clear parody of the last episode of The Sopranos.
Hill and Bill are sitting at a table in a diner, while their daughter Chelsea is outside trying to parallel park the car. Hillary is going through the menu, which is actually a jukebox selection of all the songs involved in the campaign competition. Bill asks her how the campaign is going, when Vince Curatola comes in and gives them a nasty look. Curatola plays New York mob boss Johnny "Sack" Sacramoni in the HBO series of The Sopranos.
Bill expresses his personal favorite for the campaign, which is Smash Mouth's "I'm a Believer". Hillary is about to announce the winner as she slips a coin in the jukebox....and just like in The Sopranos' finale, the screen goes black. Very nicely done. The difference is that here the public is finally let in on the outcome, namely Celine Dion's "You and I".
You gotta appreciate whoever is planning this campaign for Hillary. With this video, they capitalized on the success of the last episode of The Sopranos, which aired just recently. It also emphasizes on using both the Clintons, hence their combined charisma. The way this is going, I'd say Hillary Clinton has a very good shot at becoming the first female president of the United States.
