Although this hasn't been exactly Hilary Duff's year, either professionally or on a more personal level, the talented singer and actress is back on the scene. From all the so-called 'failures' comes her latest studio album, called 'Dignity' and she was kind enough as to talk about it to Ryan Seacrest on KISS FM.
What went wrong? First, she and her sister starred in 'Material Girls', a movie that bombed so hard that it even ended up scoring a couple of Razzie nominations. Then, she was stalked by some Russian student who traveled all the way to America to marry her and threatened to kill her boyfriend for that to become real.
After the stalker was arrested and a restraining order issued against him, Hilary ended her long relationship to rocker Joel Madden of the Good Charlotte for undisclosed reasons. Only days later, he was spotted with another famous woman, Nicole Richie and soon they officially became a couple.
All that has taken its toll on the 19-year-old singer but she didn't allow it to prevent her from working or even from drawing inspiration from it. 'Dignity' is the result of her struggle and her courage to overcome all the adversities. It is her fourth material and has been scheduled for release in April.
When asked to explain how the album came to life and how she ended up with this very personal title for it, Hilary said: 'The record is really like a dance record. I did the record when I was having things with my family and was with someone and then not with someone so it is very personal. Well I wrote a song, it was one of the last songs I wrote for the record, it's called "Where's your dignity?" Dignity is something you just don't have. It's something that you have to work on. I feel like I have it a little. The album is so personal. It feels like it just fits- it's something that I've always hoped to have and strive to have.'
But the real surprise that this brand new album contains is a track called 'Gypsy Girl', which apparently deals with the theme of the 'other girl'. Hilary refused to tell Ryan whether the song is about Joel and Nicole Richie or if it's just an impersonal take on the subject, but tongues are already wagging about how 'Dignity' will contain some dissing at someone's expense.
