A clear contrast to the painful recession of 2008-2010

Three years ago, I used to advise people to buy memory while they could, because the incredibly low prices wouldn't last forever. Now I guess I should give the same advice, although for a different reason.

And the reason is that the DRAM market is on a steady rise, so earlier is always better if you intend to get a memory module or two. Each week is only bound to add to the final price.

According to market analysis firm IHS iSuppli, the DRAM business reached its highest profits in three years during the second quarter of 2013.

Operating margins (profits) climbed to 27% in April-June, quite a bit beyond the 11% of 1Q13.

This was the second successive quarter of positive progression, after 10 of them where they only fell. DRAM average selling prices went up 12% too (4% in 1Q13).

The reason for all this is that mobile gadgets have been booming in sales, offsetting the slump in PC demand.
