The RocketCache 3240X8 add-in card mixes SSDs with HDDs

It may not be the same move as the one Crucial made a few days ago, but HighPoint is definitely thinking along the same lines in terms of system storage performance.

Long story short, HighPoint has created the RocketCache 3240X8, an add-in-board of sorts that provides SSD caching to Macs and PCs.

That is to say, an HDD and an SSD can be viewed by the OS as a single entity, boosting performance while also offering a large capacity.

The RocketCache 3240X8 controller has four SATA 6.0 Gbps ports and works on the PCI Express 2.0 interface (x8 mode).

What this means is that not only can one HDD and an SSD be paired, but various other combinations are possible too.

Up to 3 SSDs can be combined with a single HDD, or two HDDs can be merged with 2 SSDs, etc.

US buyers will have to pay $183.82 or $179.99 for the product, while people from the UK will need £136.96. No EU price or retailer was specified.
