A judge has sent two men driving recklessly on the streets of Bolton, in the UK, to jail. The pair had been racing at 80 mph (128 kph) last month when they struck an adult and a child. The pair were critically injured.

CCTV footage shows the suspects drive Vauxhall Astras at night. When a BMW gets in their way, they crash into the car. 21-year-old Furqaan Mohmed and 30-year-old Mohammed Patel were detained for the nighttime race.

Patel's vehicle veered into a parked Audi, hit 12-year-old student Raheem Hussain, then crashed into a bus shelter. He hit a second man waiting for the bus, 51-year-old market trader Saleem Mogradia.

According to the Daily Mail, Patel was not allowed to drive at the time, as his license was suspended and he had no insurance. He originally had a friend claim he was behind the wheel, and the man was jailed for six months.

Hussain has a leg broken in multiple places, swelling to his brain, and he was in a medically induced coma for three weeks. Mogradia had a punctured lung, a broken arm, and needed to stay in the hospital for two weeks.

Patel has been ordered to serve three years and ten months in jail. Mohmed will be spending two years and eight months in prison.
