The development team at High Moon Studios has confirmed that the comic book-based project it was working on was called Hit-Monkey and was based on the character of the same name that Marvel Comics has introduced during 2010.

The game and the comic book will star a Japanese Macaque who has managed to become a very capable assassin by simply observing the actions of a human hitman that lived near his tribe for a while.

It’s not clear whether the video game will follow the same narrative arc as the comic book or whether High Moon Studios is ready to deliver a new story based on the universe.

At some point during its Marvel career, Hit-Monkey has even gone head to head with Deadpool.

The game is set to be released during 2013 and publishing duties will be handled by Activision.

Until then High Moon Studios is putting the finishing touches on the new Transformers-based game, Fall of Cybertron.
