But sometimes, someone will just ask you to hand them your phone to take a quick look at a photo. And that’s when you need Don’t Swipe.
An inexpensive piece of software from Caffeinated Apps, Don’t Swipe, allows you to hand your phone to anyone without fear that they’ll stumble upon an inappropriate selfie, or something that might give away a nasty habit. Developer Caffeinated Apps explains:
“Have you ever shown a photo to you friends and they swiped to other photos you didn’t want them to see? Don’t Swipe is the perfect app for you! Don’t Swipe allows super quick selection of your photos with slick Swipe-To-Select gesture to show your friends only the photos you want them to see.”
It works really easy too. Just load up your photo gallery in the app’s interface and start swiping with your finger across select photos that you don’t want others to see.
So, the next time Mom or Dad asks you to pass over the phone to see that set of summer vacation photos, you’ll know what to use to hide images where you could be caught smoking, drinking, or anything that your parents don’t approve of.
Updated to version 1.1 last month, Don’t Swipe now offers a more bug-free experience, adds URL scheme functionality, and is the first version to include new language support in addition to English.

As far as the new languages are concerned, the developer says that the app is now available in Japanese, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional) and Russian. Caffeinated Apps credits individual translators for their effort.

To download Don’t Swipe, you’ll need an up to date iDevice, such as iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPad second generation, iPad third generation, iPad fourth generation, iPad Air, iPad mini, iPad mini with Retina display, or iPod touch fifth generation. The minimum firmware requirement is iOS 7.0.
