Now that Microsoft is retiring Windows Live Messenger and is moving all users to its Skype platform, the company does its best to convince everyone that Skype’s Messenger is at least worth a shot.

The Skype team has revealed via its official Twitter account a total of eight different hidden emoticons, all of them available via a simple code that can be used right in the conversation window.

“We'll let you in on a little secret, Skype has hidden emoticons. Try one of these cool expressions,” Skype said in a Twitter post.

Of course, the application comes with many more emoticons, all of them included right in the chat window, but these ones are supposed to make the whole chatting experience a bit more special.

Any research beyond a simple Twitter post would have shown that there are many more hidden emoticons not mentioned by Skype or this article, and that (heidy), for example, has been in the chat window for a long time.
