Interesting evolution of Google Video

Today, the Mountain View company announced the closure of the paid version of Google Video that means you're not able to buy and download videos anymore. Obviously, many of the Internet users are already talking about the future of the video service since there are numerous signs that reveal the search giant begins to be more focused on its famous YouTube video sharing platform. Some time ago, Google made several moves that converted its video service into a video search engine and today's step gives valuable information about the product's future.

For example, Google Video might have the same fate as Google Answers, the service that has been shut down some time ago. However, I'm not sure the Mountain View company plans to close this solution since there are a lot of other goals to be used for. For example, some publications were talking last week about a potential involvement of the search giant into the music distribution market. It seems like Google might become a powerful partner for the music companies and distribute music. This obviously means that Google will also build a special platform for this goal and Google Video might represent the first step.

Also, Google Video might remain the same old service and work side by side with YouTube, the online video sharing service that almost crashed Google Video's audience. A long time ago, just after the YouTube acquisition in October 2006, the company's representatives talked about the future of the two video services. At that time, they sustained that Google Video will continue to exist but will be focused on the content it provides while YouTube will try to improve its impressive community and offer all types of content.

However, it doesn't look like Google Video is focused on its videos because it was reported several times that it even offered pirated content as several full length movies were published on its official page.
