Valve promised us that all the games made by the company (or under its tutelage) would be available on Linux, but Counter Strike: Global Offensive has failed to appear.

Counter Strike: Global Offensive has been released for quite some time and soon there will be almost a year of inquiry on this matter. On forums, official website, Twitter, you name it, the same question comes again and again. When will Counter Strike: Global Offensive be available on the Linux platform?

There have been sporadic rumors and information and about the cause of the absence, but it seems to be more of a problem of porting the game for the Linux platform.

Even if it uses the Source engine, which already powers a few Linux games, it's not that easy to make Counter Strike: Global Offensive work on the open source platform.

The other big absent from the Valve catalog is Portal 2, which also uses an advanced version of the Source engine. The two problems might be related.

In any case, Steam for Linux users would like to know the timetable of these two launches, maybe before the release of Half-Life 3.
