In case you were still wondering what's at stake in the attempt to enforce some well deserved order into Brit Brit's mess of a life, Commissioner Scott Gordon just made public his rulings regarding what exactly brought about Brit losing her kids - and also what is going to happen next. I mean, not that we'd expect Brit to actually comply with any of the things that she's required to do - it's been tried again and again to make her see sense and look where it got her: she's lost her kids, her musical career is down the drain and all she does is drive through L.A. and Beverly Hills, check into hotels and pose for the paparazzi.
And so, it's interesting to see Commissioner Gordon is a patient man. He hasn't changed the rules much from the last time he told Brit directly that she's a frequent and habitual drug user who needs some serious help in order to put her life back together. And he is proving Brit Brit that she needs to follow some steps if she is to clean up her act - and also, that going against the law has bad consequences for you. I know, it sounds like he's putting it all into kindergarten-simple language, but even so, I wouldn't bet on Brit actually getting his point.
The direct and exact reason for which Brit lost her kids on Monday was also reveled to be very simple - according to Gordon, she "was not in substantial compliance with material provisions of the Court's September 17, 2007 order" The ruling states that "the minor children shall remain in the custody of [Kevin Federline] with the exception of those specific dates and times [visitation]". He also ruled that all of Brit's visitation must be monitored.
How humiliating is that! From having joint custody to having someone actually monitor her while she's with her kids - all this is proof of the fact that very much can go very bad in a limited amount of time. However, I wish I could say that Brit understood just how fast things went from what looked like normal to bad to worse. Also, if having monitored visits wasn't enough for Brit, her visitation rights will actually be terminated "if any conduct or action by (Britney) endangers the minor children" - which means that whoever will be doing the monitoring will also have the power to terminate her visitation rights.
Gordon said that Britney "is ordered to undergo testing for the use of controlled substances and alcohol," something he required in a previous order. As we first reported, Spears did not submit to drug tests as required by the Court. Gordon now says "... refusal to submit to a test ... shall be deemed by the Court as a failed test". She's also required to undergo "individual counseling" at least once a week as required by Gordon last month and must also meet with a parenting coach so they can "observe [her] interaction with the minor children and her parenting skills".
See, Britney? It's all written there in the rules. You can make a checklist and tape it to your fridge or something similar. It's not difficult, it's just...well, the law. Millions of people actually do it just fine every day. You can do it too. I know you can. You had better.
