Heroes of the Storm is at the moment one of the most exciting projects at Blizzard and the development team announces that it is getting ready to push the title into the final phase of the technical alpha test, which means that all those playing the title should be getting ready for a final major account wipe as the title moves forward.

The team explains in the official announcement that “We’re shutting down the Heroes of the Storm Shop on September 22. At that time, you will be unable to make any purchases using Gold or real money. However, we don’t want that to put a damper on your latest matchmaking win-streak. We’re thrilled to let you know that while the Shop is offline, all 29 Heroes in the Technical Alpha lineup will be available for play in the free Hero rotation!”

The technical alpha for Heroes of the Storm will be down for maintenance for a period of about one week and gamers will be unable to log in as the company executes a full wipe.

All progression, rewards, Gold and purchases are eliminated and gamers can start fresh.

All real-world money is supposed to be refunded to the gamers’ Battle.net accounts, which allows them to pick up the cool items they had access to before.

No more resets for Heroes of the Storm

Blizzard says that Heroes of the Storm will not be fully reset in the future anymore, as the company aims to allow gamers to develop their characters in any way they see fit.

Small updates might be needed to adjust players’ progression, but the studio says the community will get plenty of warnings before that happens.

Blizzard is also planning to move gamers to their home Battle.net regions.

The company explains that “If you wish to remain in contact with friends you made to this point in the Heroes of the Storm Technical Alpha, take down their BattleTags (both the account name and unique ID number) now, and add them to your friends list after the wipe.”

More updates are coming

Blizzard says that all those who are testing Heroes of the Storm will get more information about the changes coming to the title and that it appreciates their patience and the fact that they are using their time to make the title better.

The company is not yet ready to offer more details about the potential launch window for the title.
