Blizzard confirms that it's planning on releasing a new hero and a new battleground for Heroes of the Storm next week, probably on March 24, in the form of Sylvanas Windrunner and Tomb of the Spider Queen, alongside a major patch.

Heroes of the Storm entered closed beta back in January, and since then, developer Blizzard has unleashed a few major updates, not to mention two new heroes, in the form of Thrall and The Lost Vikings.

The title has enjoyed ever-increasing popularity, and a few weeks ago, Blizzard mentioned that several new things are coming to HotS in the near future, such as a new hero, a fresh battleground, not to mention many other improvements to the actual game.

Sylvanas and Tomb of the Spider Queen are coming next week

Now, in a new effort to communicate in a better way with the community, Blizzard confirms in an announcement on the official forums that both the new hero – Sylvanas Windrunner – and the new battleground, called Tomb of the Spider Queen, are set to appear alongside a major patch next week.

While no exact time frame was given, and the company was quick to point out that a delay can always appear if any issues arise; it's quite possible that the update and the new gameplay elements could launch on March 24, when the free hero rotation and new discounts appear in the game.

The two new additions to the game should make things interesting

Sylvanas Windrunner fulfills the role of a ranged specialist that can not only use her bow to strike foes from afar, but also corrupt enemy minions to fight for her. She can also siege opposing buildings by cursing them and dealing damage over time.

The Tomb of the Spider Queen map brings a new mechanic that sees minions drop gems when they die. These can be used to summon Webweavers that can attack your opponent. If you get killed, you drop your gems, but they can't be picked up by the enemy. However, pay attention when going to retrieve them, as an ambush is always possible.
