Blizzard has shared quite a few fresh details about its upcoming Heroes of the Storm multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) title, confirming that different battlegrounds in the game will change key elements, while skins allow players to really customize their character.

Heroes of the Storm is Blizzard's own MOBA project, originally surfacing as Blizzard Dota and then Blizzard All-Stars. The game has finally received an official designation and is currently in a closed technical alpha stage on the PC platform.

Blizzard has been sharing more and more info about the new title and even presented accurate profiles for the heroes announced so far.

At PAX East over the weekend, the studio has confirmed not one, but four different characters that are joining the ever expanding roster, in the form of LiLi, Zagara, Brightwing, and Murky.

The has studio also talked on its website about the different battlegrounds that will be included in the game, offering some details about Blackheart's Bay, a pirate-themed map on which players can collect Doubloons that can be used to earn the favor of Blackheart.

"Players accumulate Doubloons by destroying Treasure Chests or defeating Mercenary Camps, which are scattered around the Battleground. If your team manages to turn in enough coins, Blackheart will set Blackheart’s Revenge, his ghostly pirate ship, on enemy forts and bombard them with cannon fire," the studio said.

However, if players are killed while carrying the coins, they drop on the ground and can be claimed by enemies.

According to Blizzard, it has four different battlegrounds in the alpha and plans to add many more in order to keep things fresh and not let players get too accustomed with the same old levels.

The studio has also shared its philosophy concerning hero skins and how they represent the styles its team has come to love and that don't necessarily reflect the grim franchises most of these characters come from.

"Skins are an exciting way for us to really dig into the lore and flavor of each hero, and we always have a lot of fun coming up with our next great idea. Through skins, we can show off looks we’ve come to love. We can also explore a variety of different appearances for each hero, including looks that cross into our other game universes."

In order to boost the fun factor, Blizzard has also decided that the April Fools skin, Pajamathur for Abathur, will be incorporated into the actual game.
