After having spent a lot of time in alpha and beta stages, the final version of Heroes of the Storm has just been released worldwide. Alongside it, a special update is also available, bringing forth a new character in the form of Johanna, as well as special free goodies to Hearthstone or World of Warcraft players.

Heroes of the Storm was officially revealed to the world last year, after having spent its development period under many names, from Blizzard Dota to Blizzard All-Stars and others.

The title had a closed technical alpha stage in 2014, which continued into a closed beta at the beginning of the year, and then saw an open beta debut last month, on May 19.

Yesterday, on June 2, the final version of Heroes of the Storm was revealed to the world across the Americas, Europe, and Asia regions.

A special update accompanies the final rollout

Besides allowing anyone to take part in the multiplayer brawler, Blizzard has also rolled out a special update to enable a lot of festive celebrations.

First and foremost, the promised XP boost event is now underway, as all players will get, until next week, 25 more experience when enjoying the game. In addition to that, however, Blizzard also confirms on its website that two more bonuses are coming after that, with a 50% one taking place between June 9 and 16, and then a 100% one between June 16 and 24.

All players who log into HotS until June 9 will also get an exclusive player portrait, not to mention a 50% discount on buying a 30-day Stimpack.

They'll also receive some impressive free goodies, for use in HotS or in other games like Hearthstone, such as a cardback, a pet, or special mounts.

Last but not least, the update also enables a brand new character in the form of Johanna the Crusader from Diablo 3. You can check out all the details about the latest Heroes of the Storm update below.
