14 DAY TRIAL // Besides bringing forth plenty of different changes and new features to Heroes of the Storm, the new closed beta version also includes many different balance tweaks and character overhauls for some of the existing heroes, such as Abathur, Li Li, and others.
Heroes of the Storm incorporates some of Blizzard's most famous and infamous characters from across the many franchises made by the studio, ranging from StarCraft and Warcraft, to Diablo and more. The game had a pretty lengthy closed technical alpha stage in 2014, and for the new year, Blizzard has rolled out the closed beta version of Heroes of the Storm in the last few days.
The patch brings big character changes
Besides adding things like a Hero League competitive mode, a new draft mechanic, and even a new battleground or a new hero, the closed beta also brings forth plenty of changes to existing characters, according to the official website.
Some have received major overhauls, such as Abathur, who now has a new ability called Evolve Monstrosity, which allows him to transform an allied minion or locust into a monstrosity for 60 seconds. When enemy minions die around the monstrosity, it gains 4% health and basic attack damage, stacking up to 30 times. The ability can be evolved with new talents at level 16 and level 20, and should prove to be quite useful.
Other traits, like Locust Strain or Symbiote, have also been reworked, while Toxic Nest and Ultimate Evolution have received some improvements.
Falstad has also gotten a series of changes, with many abilities and talents being removed altogether. There's a new ability called Lightning Rod that damages enemies and deals additional damage over time, or Mighty Gust, which pushes enemies away and slows them over three seconds. Many new talents have been added.
Li Li was also on the receiving end of an overhaul, as the Protective Shield and Stoneskin talents have been removed, while new ones have been added. At level 20, for example, she can unlock a talent called Kung Fu Hustle that causes her abilities to recharge three times as fast when Fast Feet is active.
Other heroes have also been tweaked
Besides these big overhauls, other heroes, like Azmodan, Chen, Gazlowe, Illidan, Jaina, Kerrigan, Muradin, Nova, Tassadar, Tychus, or Zagara have also been tweaked by Blizzard, so check out the whole changelog on the official website.
