Blizzard needs to talk more to its fan base

Heroes of the Storm is at the moment in beta stage, which in the video game world means everything between actual testing and just another form of marketing, and the development team at Blizzard is currently offering a Founder’s Pack for the title, which is available to those who want some exclusive content but also comes with guaranteed access to the title.

There are also other ways to get access to the experience, but I am sure that there are plenty of gamers who are uninterested in posting comments or in interacting with the community to get keys, and they are the perfect target for the digital package delivered by Blizzard.

They will pay not to get access to the skins or the characters but to simply have the privilege of playing when the game is live, as the new pack restricts entry to a small number of players, even if that is not entirely true.

There’s also a big chance that those gamers lack the time to learn all the unique aspects of Heroes of the Storm and to become solid players, so plenty of them will probably abandon the experience relatively fast.

Basically, their money will fund the future of a title they will probably only enjoy for a few weeks.

Blizzard needs to respect its community more

The company has long been hailed as one of the few which had a ton of respect for the communities that congregated around its titles.

When Diablo 3 was first launched, there was a lot of criticism directed at the title, but through a lot of patching and an expansion the studio managed to address many of the issues fans were complaining about.

The game is now better loved by gamers than on launch and more content for it is planned.

When it comes to Heroes of the Storm, Blizzard needs to find a better way of delivering beta keys, preferably through a unified channel that is only under the control of the studio.

The Founder’s package should also eliminate the instant access so that it can only be acquired by those who already can play the game and simply want the extra content.

Heroes of the Storm seems like the kind of game that could become a significant challenger to the duopoly of League of Legends and DOTA 2, but that cannot happen if the company does not respect its potential customers.
