Heroes of Steel is a top-down RPG game developed and published on Steam by a studio called Trese Brothers. The developers have just released a patch that makes the game compatible with Linux platforms.

There is no shortage of RPG games for the Linux fans, but it's always a good thing when yet another publisher or developer decides to port their game for the open source platform. It was originally released back in April, 2014, so they had plenty of time to work on the port and to refine the original game.

In fact, this is the 30th update for Heroes of Steel and the makers of this game have been very active. Few games benefit from this kinds of support after launch and to get a port that features all the changes and improvements made so far is almost as good as the launch itself.

Heroes of Steel is not an easy game

The game passed first through the Greenlight process, which means that it was voted upon the community and they managed to get their title published with great support from the players. It's a 2D game in which the player controls a party and fights through various dungeons. It doesn't have a glorious graphics engine, but that's not the point of the game.

"Heroes of Steel has arrived on Linux with the v3.1.15 update today. During our Greenlight project, due to the high interest from Linux gamers, we added a commitment to release on Linux. It has taken almost a year, but we've finally tackled this last platform. The Linux release includes all of the features, content and enhancements of the Windows and Mac releases, as well as the most recent update of v3.1.15," wrote the makers of the game.
