Heroes of Ruin is one of the first big third-party projects to arrive on the Nintendo 3DS and working on the game has been a solid learning experience for the development team, mainly because it allowed them to interact with big JRPG publisher Square Enix.

Tim Schwalk, who is the game director at n-Space, has told CVG that the collaboration with Square Enix was “extremely nerve-wracking, but I try not to think about it.”

He says that the publisher “taught us the importance of ensuring the user experience is great throughout. It doesn’t matter if you have an epic story or exciting boss battles if the menus are confusing or controls aren’t streamlined. They’ve definitely helped us craft this game into something we’re all very proud of.”

Heroes of Ruin is an action and role-playing mix and will be launched before the end of spring.

The game uses both the Street and the SpotPass features and allows for drop-in multiplayer.
