Shortly after the announcement of 187: Ride Or Die, Ubisoft comes with another novelty: the re-release of the Might and Magic series.

The Might and Magic series was one of the major successes, even since the first game from 1985, in the world of PC games. The games from the Might and Magic series captivated the gamers' imagination from the first one until the last title of the series: Might and Magic IX.

In 1990, the first game from the Heroes of Might and Magic series: King's Bounty was released. The climax of the series was reached by Heroes of Might and Magic III. The following title: Heroes of Might and Magic IV had a smaller impact than the previous one.

Ubisoft bought the Might and Magic brand in 2003, after the dissolution of the company that previously owned it. Ubisoft announced that it will respect the Might and Magic and Heroes of Might and Magic legacy.

After first referring to the release of the new Heroes Of Might and Magic V in the 2005- 2006 plan, Ubisoft announced today through a press release the resuming of the series.

Ubisoft will keep the genre of the game: turn-based strategy with RPG elements, but also promises new innovations: 3D graphics, new factions and the most interesting, a new combat system.

The developing of the game was assigned to the Nival Interactive team (Blitzkrieg, Silent Storm, Etherlords) and the release date is estimated around the beginning of 2006.

An interesting element appears in the statement of Alain Corre, General Manager of Ubisoft for Europe, Pacific Asia and South America: "The fantasy worlds that await the online or offline exploration, the tactical decisions players will have to take and the possibility of building a true hero will lure the players into the Might & Magic universe". Hence, it is likely that an online Might and Magic will be released.

If we are to judge from the screenshots posted at www.mightandmagicgame.com Heroes of Might and Magic V will be a revolution.
