Ubisoft announced last month that it would launch a remastered version of the highly-acclaimed Heroes of Might & Magic III, on January 29, 2015. The new version of the most popular game in the Heroes of Might & Magic series is now available for purchase, but buyers won't be able to play it until later this month.

There are no bonuses for those who pre-purchase the game, but they will have the certainty that they will be able to play when the game is released.

Heroes of Might & Magic III HD Edition is now available for pre-order via Steam for only €14.99 ($14.99). For that amount you will get 7 campaign scenarios, around 50 skirmish maps, a map editor and a local multiplayer mode.

What you will not get is the Armageddon's Blade and The Shadows of Death expansions, which are only available in the Complete Edition of the original Heroes of Might & Magic III.

There are no extras for those who pre-purchase the game on Steam

Heroes of Might & Magic III HD Edition is developed by DotEmu, the studio specialized in emulating old games to work on modern PCs. The French company is also well known for its work in the mobile gaming industry as well.

Graphics-wise, we're not expecting too many enhancements, though Ubisoft claims the game offers “a new HD experience,” which means “updated graphics” and wide screen compatibility.

One thing that will probably convince many fans of the franchise to purchase it a second (third?) time would be the Steamworks compatibility and the fact that it will not require uPlay.

The game's Steam page doesn't mention Uplay at all, which makes Heroes of Might & Magic III HD Edition one of the few games developed and/or published by Ubisoft that does not require the Uplay service.

That being said, you still have a little more than 3 weeks to decide whether or not to pre-order Heroes of Might & Magic III HD Edition on Steam.
