Breathing new life into the vaunted Mana franchise, Heroes of Mana takes the beloved series to an entirely new dimension. Generals will plan, plot and strategize their way to victory on the battlefield, command an army of heroes, creatures and beloved rabites, by using the Nintendo DS Touch Screen, and experience an all-new perspective on the ever-evolving battle for the Mana Tree.
By means of the Nintendo Wi-Fi ranking system, skilled players can see how they rank among others around the world. Heroes of Mana was developed by Brownie Brown Inc., and was released on March 8th, 2007 in Japan, on August 14th in the U.S., during the same year, while other countries received the game in September 2007.
This is a real-time strategy title that makes full use of the Nintendo DS Touch Screen. The intuitive control scheme allows players to lead armies, build bases and entirely vanquish their foes by using the Nintendo DS stylus. The head-to-head multiplayer allows friends to challenge each other via DS Wireless Communications, and command either heroes, or monsters.
The art style, of course, is a superb blend of 2D and 3D environments, while the game's score has been written by none other than the composer of the Kingdom Hearts series, Yoko Shimomura. Special items can be obtained by logging on the Wi-Fi Heroes Ranking system, as well as by earning points through mission achievements, such as fast times and most thrifty.
The game received some pretty mixed reviews, largely because it had some very serious AI (Artificial Intelligence) problems. It introduced an extremely engaging strategy system to the DS, and subsequently, gained quite a large number of fans in the countries where it was launched, in addition to recording some pretty decent sales.
HINTS
Easy wins
Use the following trick to pass through a level easily. You will, usually, start off with one of Gaia's Stones and a couple of Treant's Berries. Summon Gatherers to collect more stones and berries of that particular type. You can then construct a building to call forth more powerful monsters of your choice, which can help kill your enemies. Note: Do not do this on the "Tears Frozen In A Chant" chapter, because it will take too long and Baxilios will storm the castle.
