In late 2013, Brad Pitt and Shia LaBeouf spent a few months in London, shooting for a new war movie called “Fury,” directed by David Ayer on a script he also wrote. At the time, all we knew about the project was that it would tell the story of the 5-man crew on a Sherman tank in WWII.

The first footage from the film has been released. It’s not a trailer but rather a featurette, in that it also includes a few words about the concept and the realization of the film from production people and the actors.

I assume a first trailer should arrive pretty soon but, if it doesn’t, worry not: the release date is set for November 2014, so we have all the time in the world to get one.

“April, 1945. A battle-hardened army sergeant named Wardaddy commands a Sherman tank and her five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Wardaddy and his men face odds in their attempts to strike at Nazi Germany,” reads a brief synopsis of “Fury.”

The film also stars LaBeouf and Michael Pena and is described as a character drama that just happens to be set in the war, the touching story of a family.

There isn’t much footage to go by, to see how this will play out, but you do get the distinct impression, watching this video, that all efforts went into making it feel as “real” and beautiful as possible. So, the featurette should be enough until we get the actual trailer, which will probably – hopefully – include a bit more in terms of action scenes and plot details.
