AnonymousIRC dropped a motherload of data on Apple iOS devices, records on one million and one of them. It said it had records on 12 million devices in total.

What's more, it claimed that the FBI was the source of the leak. Incendiary stuff, to be sure, so you can expect that a lot of people had a lot of questions.

But Anonymous was not in a talkative move and said it wouldn't answer anything or make any more statements on the matter until Gawker blogger Adrian Chen, a "favorite" of Anonymous, posted a picture of himself on Gawker wearing a pink tutu and having a shoe on his head.

The "shoe on head" thing is very much linked to 4chan and goes back several years. With the FBI denying any leak and Anonymous staying quiet, Chen bit the bullet and delivered.

It had the desired effect too, Anonymous started talking soon after. "Must admit, this is pretty awesome: http://gaw.kr/Q3Ecgk And we really don't like linking to Gawker. We'll get in touch soon. @adrianchen," AnonyIRC said.
