2015 will be the year of Michael Fassbender, pretty much like 2014 was the Benedict Cumberbatch / Eddie Redmayne year. The Irish actor has no less than 5 movies opening this year, the western “Slow West” among them.

This one premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was met with very warm praise. It also got picked up for distribution, so it will arrive in theaters across the US starting next month. It will become available on iTunes on May 15.

A first trailer for it has premiered, and as usual, you will find it available below.

“Slow West” is the story of a 16-year-old boy from Scotland, who travels to America and plans to move across the country to find his long lost love. He is saved along the way by a mysterious gunslinger (Fassbender), who will guide, protect and mentor him.

Kodi Smit-McPhee plays the young man, while Caren Pisorious is his love interest. In the trailer, you might also recognize The Hound from HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” Rory McCann, and Ben Mendelsohn.

Once you see the trailer, you will have understood why there’s so much buzz around it: “Slow West” isn’t a western of the kind we’ve seen already. Sure, it’s gritty and violent and messy, but it’s also very touching and funny.

Add to this the fact that it stars Fassbender, and it’s got me sold. What about you?
