Warner Bros. is plowing ahead with plans for the first “Justice League” movie, which will be out in theaters in 2017. However, before that, fans will be introduced to this new superhero universe in “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” which isn’t a sequel to the 2013 “Man of Steel” but a prequel to “Justice League Part One.”

“Dawn of Justice” won’t be just the first film to ever bring Wonder Woman to the big screen or to introduce the new Batman after Christopher Nolan’s, but also the one to bring Aquaman to the forefront.

He will be played by handsome “Game of Thrones” star Jason Momoa and there’s even some talk that, if he’s received well by audiences as this character, he might be getting his standalone pic.

Before “Justice League” gives him enough screentime to sway fans in his favor, he will be making a cameo in “Dawn of Justice.” No word yet on how long said cameo will be, but even if he only pops up in a post-end credits Easter Egg, it will still be enough to test audience response.

Let’s not kid ourselves: even before Momoa was confirmed for the role, fans were eager to see him in it. Thanks to director Zack Snyder, we don’t have to wonder about it anymore: here is the first official look at Momoa as Aquaman.

Like Superman and Batman and Wonder Woman, this photo too goes for mute, somber colors and an overall feeling of doom. If you were hoping Aquaman would be bright green and gold, and with luscious blonde hair, you can add another disappointment to what must already be a long list: Snyder is turning the comics into very serious fare, just like he did with Supes in “Man of Steel.”
