People reportedly want longer battery life, smaller speakers, thinner enclosures

TechBargains.com has conducted a survey of almost 900 people, some of whom own a tablet computer, to determine what’s in the cards for the next generation of iPads from Apple. The findings are ridiculous, and that’s putting it very mildly.

The iPad mini has become the hottest selling tablet thanks to its diminutive form factor which provides increased portability and usability, an aspect TechBargains unsurprisingly outlines in its report.

One in three surveyed consumers plan to buy the next-generation iPad mini, but their decision doesn’t come without conditions.

Over a third of the respondents want longer battery life from the iPad mini 2 and iPad 5, while 85% of those surveyed want a faster processor too.

10 hours of battery life isn’t enough? Try a Surface Pro or any Android tablet out there and see what mileage you get. Here's a hint: you're lucky if you manage to get six hours of juice out of Microsoft's gem.

Did we mention that the survey was conducted on 889 respondents, 26% of which do not own a tablet PC?

Moving on to the next set of findings, three in four would like a Retina display on the iPad mini 2. Don’t worry people, the next iPad mini will most likely boast crisp visuals like the latest iPhones. It’s a tradition at Apple.

76% want a USB port, and 71% want better speakers. At the same time, half of this tech-savvy bunch says they want the tablets to be lighter and thinner, which goes to show just how absurd some of these requests are.

The speakers inside Apple’s iPads already offer pristine sound quality, and the iPad mini itself is already incredibly thin. The smaller the speaker gets, the poorer the sound quality. Apparently those surveyed by TechBargains.com aren’t very aware of this aspect.

Also, 47% wish to have multiple user accounts, according to the survey. At least this request holds water. Merging IDs is not supported by Apple at the moment, and it's a huge bummer for some customers.
