iPad second only to iPhone when it comes to revenues

Fiscal 2014 saw Apple rake in a mind-boggling $182,795,000,000 in revenues. For those of you who are wondering if they’re reading the sum correctly, that’s one hundred and eighty two billion and change. For those of you holding European currency in your wallets, that’s €155,498,000,000.

This is revenue, mind you, not profits. Don’t worry, those are big too, but we’re here to look at something else. Namely, how each product line contributes to the annual cash flow. An infographic put together Business Insider offers a very clear picture of each business pillar in part.

Makes you wonder where they’d be without the iPhone

No one should be surprised by now that the iPhone is by far the most profitable of all aspects of Apple’s operations. With tens of millions of units sold each year, the smartphone business alone has raked in more than $100 billion (€85 billion) for the Cupertino giant.

iPad comes in second, with $30 billion (€25 billion) in revenue, closely followed by the Mac business with $24 billion (€20 billion). iTunes & Software is the fourth most profitable product, so to speak, bringing in just over $18 billion (€15.42 billion) in 2014.

Not too shabby

The least profitable businesses are Accessories and iPod, with $6 billion (€5.14 billion) and $2.3 billion (€2 billion) in revenues, respectively. Even these seemingly insignificant areas generate insane numbers.

The BI chart offers even more perspective by showing how Apple’s revenue stacks up against some other successful companies, including Wal-Mart, Exxon Mobil, Microsoft, Amazon, Google, and Facebook. Apple sits third just above Microsoft, and behind Exxon.
