Microsoft recently introduced three new limited edition Touch Covers for the Surface RT and Surface Pro, but without any sales figures provided by the company, nobody can tell for sure whether they’re successful or not.

In the meantime, Microsoft decided to provide more information about the design process of these three covers, as each of them is created with a different goal in mind.

The “Skulls” Touch Cover belongs to Kate Bailey, a Microsoft industrial designer who drew inspiration from the Day of the Dead, the well-known Mexican holiday.

The “Flowers” design, on the other hand, was created by graphic designer and blogger Joy Deangdeelert Cho, while the “Year of the Snake” version was made by Liu Qing, a well-known Shanghai designer.

“These Touch Covers feature custom laser etched artwork designed by three different and equally talented artists. Express your personal style and use something that’s functional. These Touch Covers work on both Surface RT and Pro, and feature the smooth pressure sensitive keyboard with built-in trackpad,” Microsoft said.
