Batman will indeed be “tired and weary,” but also older

“Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice” from director Zack Snyder is now shooting in Detroit and countless photos and videos from the set are leaking with every hour. Thank (or curse) social media for it. The scene is a nearly-destroyed Metropolis and Bruce Wayne will probably be forced to come out of retirement to help people out.

The video embedded below includes both still photos and video, albeit of dubious quality, from the set. I have no idea how all these people got so close as to capture these images, because they seem fans, not professional paparazzi, but perhaps Warner Bros. should consider investing in tighter security next.

On the bright side, these leaks confirm what Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara was saying about the new Bruce Wayne / Batman late last year: he will be “tired and weary and seasoned and been doing it for a while,” and you can totally tell by the fact that he seems to have grey hair.

These are the first photos of Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne we’ve seen since the movie was announced at last year’s Comic-Con in San Diego. Snyder did release a couple of promotional shots of him in his Batsuit but the lighting and the angle in them were such that you could barely see his face.

So there we have it: Affleck as Bruce Wayne, the eccentric millionaire who used to fight crime at nighttime as Batman, but who is no longer willing to do it because he’s sick of it.

“Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice” will see him go up against Henry Cavill’s Superman, who was reintroduced to audiences in “Man of Steel,” also directed by Snyder. The film will be out in theaters in May 2016.
