Sony confirmed that PSN services have been restored

It’s been more than 24 hours since PlayStation owners haven’t been able to log in to PSN or download any digital games. The PlayStation Store hasn’t been accessible either and the reason for this total blackout is a group named Lizard Squad.

The DDoS attacks on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live services ended yesterday and for the most part owners of Microsoft’s console have been able to play their favorite games.

However, we can’t say the same thing about PlayStation owners who haven’t been able to access PSN since more than 24 hours. According to rumors, the reason might be the fact that we’re in the aftermath of the DDoS attacks and many people are trying to connect to PSN at the same time.

The good news is that Sony has already confirmed the services are now slowly coming back online and that PlayStation owners should be able to log in to PSN.

Alas, the situation is unchanged for many and for whatever reason they still can’t log in to PlayStation Network. While we don’t know what could be the reason for this fail from Sony’s part, it looks like someone has found a temporary solution for these PSN login issues.

The procedure is simple and it worked in most cases than not, but keep in mind that this has been tagged as temporary. Without any further ado, here is what you must do in order to be able to log in to PSN, courtesy to GAF user k0ji-wd.

This is just a temporary solution until PSN services are fully restored

First of all, head to your Network settings and change the MTU value to 1473. Apart from that, don’t change anything else, just leave it as it is.

Depending on your location, this temporary fix might or might not work for you. For the time being, the people living in Hong Kong, United States, UK, Germany and Australia confirmed that this small change in the Network settings allowed them to once again log in to PSN.

For some, this workaround enabled them to sign in to PSN, but not actually access the PSN server in order to set their consoles to Primary Device for example, or restore licenses.

On the bright side, if you’re a Destiny player and an addict one, then you will be thrilled to know that changing the Network settings to 1473 (or in some cases 1492) will allow you to play your favorite game.

Until all PSN services are fully restored, perhaps this temporary fix will allow you to get what you need or play games on your PlayStation console. Let us know in the comments section if this workaround allowed you to log in to PSN or not.
