There’s still no official word on when Android 5.0 Lollipop will arrive on some of the most popular Samsung smartphones. Rumors have been running around lately that the major upgrade might be launched in December 2014 / January 2015, but Samsung has yet to come out with an official statement.

From what we’ve learned in the last couple of weeks, Samsung is now working hard to tweak its own TouchWiz UI into the Android 5.0 Lollipop built.

This might take a while, as the first Android 5.0 Lollipop update for one of its smartphones is scheduled for late December or early January. And these are only the rumored dates, so Samsung may actually announce other dates in case it will ever do that.

The South Korean company is well known for not making any announcements prior or after a major OS update is released, so we don’t expect the handset manufacturer to change its policy now that Lollipop has been launched on the market and in the hands of OEMs.

Anyway, among the Samsung smartphones to receive the Lollipop update in the coming months mentioned in various leaked documents, the Galaxy Note 3 is constantly present.

The early build offers a glimpse of how much Samsung progressed with the update

Even though Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S5 will probably be the first to be upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop, the Galaxy Note 3 is expected to follow soon.

In this regard, the folks over at SamMobile have been able to get their hands on an early Android 5.0 Lollipop build for Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

Although the new version of the OS strongly resembles that on the Galaxy S4, there are some things that have been changed, which means it’s a work in progress. The Settings and Multi-Window look different, but in a good way.

It appears that Samsung’s engineers worked really hard to make the animations much smoother. Also, there are new animations included that haven’t been present in any of the previous Lollipop builds leaked online.

There are plenty of screenshots in the gallery below meant to give you an idea of how Android 5.0 Lollipop will look like on your Samsung Galaxy Note 3, so take a look and let us know what you think in the comments section.

Keep in mind that the early Android 5.0 Lollipop build that appears in the embedded video will not be leaked due to the fact that it’s still a work in progress, so just watch and drool.
