The three are called Challenger, Blackbone, and Redbone

Another week, another case, or in this case, a series of cases. Repetition aside, Rosewill has formally introduced three new enclosures, called Challenger, Blackbone, and Redbone, respectively.

Together, they are being advertised as the Galaxy Series and are part of Rosewill's efforts to increase its product range to cover all bases between low, mid and upper-end markets.

All three are SECC steel-wrought mid-tower chassis with four internal 3.5-inch bays (for hard disk drives), micro-ATX and ATX motherboard support, and blue LED front fans.

The enclosures also get I/o panels with one USB 3.0 port, two USB 2.0 connectors, AC97/HD audio, an power/reset buttons.

The rest of the features vary according to model. Challenger, for example, has an external 3.5-inch bay, but the other two don't.

Also, there are only two 5.25-inch ODD (optical disk drive) bays on the Challenger, while the Blackbone, and Redbone each get three, with easy to remove front Brackets to boot.

Furthermore, three 120 mm fans are pre-installed, and there is an optional slot on the side panel for an extra 120/140mm fan.

A removable bottom mounted dust filter is also part of the enclosures, along with a dedicated slot for a 2.5-inch SSD and a bottom-placed compartment for the PSU.

Finally, the maximum graphics card size is of 11 inches / 249 mm.

The price of the new Galaxy Series cases is $49.99, which corresponds to €38. All in all, not a bad sum for the “feather like weight, angled lines, sharp angles, accentuating colors, and a bit of aggressiveness.”

Soon enough, online retailers will add the Galaxy Series Challenger, Blackbone, and Redbone to their lists, as will brick-and-mortar stores. Sellers of pre-configured PCs, gaming or otherwise, likely won't adopt any of them, since they aren't fancy enough, despite the blue LED front fans, but there should be more than sufficient DIY (do-it-yourself) users.
