Microsoft doesn’t provide too many stats on the apps available in the Windows Store, but the available software categories still let us find out the most popular entries in specific sections.

February 2013 hasn’t changed too many things in the overall Windows Store app popularity ranking, as Xbox SmartGlass continues to be the number one entry, followed by the Windows 8 version of Skype (which, by the way, has recently received an update).

Google doesn’t want to release any other applications for Windows 8 users, but its search tool continues to be the third in this top, ahead of the so-called Facebook Touch, an official client for the popular social networking platform that’s completely optimized for the touch.

Last but not least, YouTube Player is the fifth app in the overall free ranking, allowing users to watch YouTube clips without leaving the Metro interface of their Windows 8 computer.
