The PC platform has been doomed by many critics and analysts largely because it has been the prime target for piracy and that many gamers just can't keep up with the upgrades necessary to their configurations in order to run all of the most recent games.

But things are still going along quite nicely, and games are selling like hot cakes, especially long time record breakers from Blizzard, like World of Warcraft, or from EA, like The Sims series. In May, things were pretty standard in terms of overall charts, according to the most recent list made up by the NPD Group, which analyzes retail sales.

Besides the regular “offenders,” other titles experienced good sales in May, including Empire: Total War, which is still going strong, despite being released quite a few months ago. Also, Valve's Left 4 Dead is still experiencing a lot of success, even though it has always dominated the Steam digital distribution charts.

Other interesting titles present on the chart are Demigod, Fallout 3, and Dawn of War II, which continue to show strong momentum. Blizzard is certainly quite happy, as the Battles Chests edition of all of its franchises is still going strong. Here is the complete list.

1. WoW: Wrath of the Lich King 2. The Sims 2 Double Deluxe 3. WoW Battle Chest 4. World of Warcraft 5. Empire: Total War 6. Spore 7. Left 4 Dead 8. The Sims 2 Apartment Life 9. Fallout Trilogy 10. StarCraft: Battle Chest 11. WoW: Burning Crusade 12. Demigod 13. Real Deal Slots Adventure 14. The SimCity Box 15. Fallout 3 16. Diablo Battle Chest 17. Oblivion: Game of the Year Edition 18. Warcraft III Battle Chest 19. Dawn of War II 20. Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor.

Overall, things are still looking good for the PC, and they will certainly continue to do so in the following months.
