Grand Theft Auto is one of the most popular open world sandbox games out there, having a huge number of fans. This is largely due to the excellent gameplay, which, combined with the amusing story, offers players a great experience that they won't forget for quite some time.

Recently, Rockstar, the developer behind the much loved franchise, announced that it would be making a Nintendo DS version of the game, entitled GTA: Chinatown Wars. Although not a lot of things were made public, from what Dan Houser, one of the co-founders of Rockstar, and Strauss Zelnick, the chairman of Take Two, the publisher of the upcoming game, said, the game would offer the same fun GTA experience and would hit the store shelves at the start of spring 2009.

Now, a Spanish magazine has just published a lot more details about the upcoming handheld title, which were translated by Nintendo Everything. These new tidbits of information reveal some very interesting facts about the map of the game, and about the role of the second display, which will offer players access to the map and PDA. Also, the game will give players the ability to catch a taxi, if they whistle into the microphone of the DS.

Here are the complete facts, as found on Nintendo Everything:

"- Camera can swivel 360 degrees - Trains will pass overhead in the city, cars will circle, pedestrians will be walking, etc. - GPS seen on the touch screen while you move through the city - PDA allows you to gain access to the map with more details as well as the goals of missions - You can mark points that you want and the GPS will always tell you the shortest legal route to the destination with yellow or blue arrows - New discoveries (such as gas stations) are added to the map - Top screen brings you all the action, while the lower screen will let you control elements like the PDA, GPS, the radio, access to the people on the map, or using Motolov cocktails and grenades. - Drugs have a big importance in the game - Drug system can be compared to Drugwars - You have to control the stock of drugs, buy them in one neighborhood and sell them in another – Good way to make money in the game - You are given a map so that you know what people demand and at what prices - Like other GTA games, in Chinatown Wars, you can catch a taxi – whistle into the microphone so the taxi will stop"

All in all, some very interesting things, which will certainly make a lot of GTA fans pick up this handheld title. Let's just hope that the story of the game will match the ones of other games from the franchise.
